Changes to Pharmacy Benefits: CVS/Caremark

NOTICE TO LOCAL 71 MEMBERS RECEIVED 14 JANUARY 2019:

National CooperativeRx partners with CVS/caremark to provide pharmacy benefits for your plan and its participants. We want to make you aware of a recent development you may have seen in the news.

Walmart has opted to leave the CVS/caremark pharmacy benefit management commercial and Managed Medicaid retail pharmacy networks. To ensure a smooth transition, CVS/caremark has requested Walmart continue to fill prescriptions as an in-network participating pharmacy until April 30, 2019 and is awaiting a response. Walmart’s Sam’s Club division will remain in CVS/caremark pharmacy networks.

Although Walmart is a small part of the overall CVS/caremark network, we remain hopeful a deal will be reached before members are impacted. In case a deal is not reached, National CooperativeRx is working with CVS/caremark to coordinate an easy transition for impacted plan members to avoid any disruption in therapy.

CVS/caremark is planning a targeted notice to plan participants who may be impacted by this change. In addition, CVS/caremark is creating a tool kit for employers to utilize that will be available soon. We will continue to provide you with the latest updates as we receive them. If you have questions, please reach out to your National CooperativeRx account representative.

Thank you for the opportunity to help manage your pharmacy benefit. We appreciate the trust you have placed in us.

Sincerely,
Deb Thomsen
