Local 71 Member Benefits include educational scholarships for members and dependent family members, including grandchildren.

Scholarships may be applied to all levels of education.

Local 71 Scholarships Policy:

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applications must be a member or a dependent, including grandchildren, of a member in good standing with Public Employees Local for no less than 1 year.
  • Applicants must either be enrolled in a training or educational program or demonstrate that they will be enrolled in training or educational program within 12 months, otherwise approved scholarships that are not paid out within 1 year from approval date will be null/void.
  • Once you receive a scholarship, you may not reapply for one calendar year.

Application Requirements:

  • Not Related (needs to be bold or highlighted)
  • Current employees will submit their most recent performance evaluation, If applicable.
  • Applicants will submit a course description, if available (asking that if available be removed), for the training or educational program in which the applicant is enrolled or will be enrolled within 12 months.
  • Applicant must submit the training program or educational program’s W-9 form, you may get this from the educational programs billing/financial department.

Application Procedure:

  • The exact nature and content of the scholarship program will be determined on an annual basis by the Executive Board. The fund will announce the scholarship recipients by letter and/or phone. Your name may be published in our Annual newsletter, L71 Facebook and Local71.com.
  • On the actual application add Student ID #, if applicable
