NOTICE OF NOMINATIONS FOR LOCAL 71 Convention Delegates:

 

 

 

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

 

 

 

Public Employees Local 71 is pleased to announce the 2021 nomination process for Convention Delegates to the international convention. September 20th-22,  2021 by Video Conference.

 

 

 

All members in good standing may nominate candidates for delegates.

 

Nominations will only be for the following position: 2021 Convention Delegate

 

 

 

The nominating meeting will take place in Anchorage:

 

Date: Saturday, May 1st 2021      

 

Time: 12:00 p.m.

 

Place: Virtually via Teams

 

Nominations received by mail will be ratified at this meeting. All precautions will be taken to safeguard health and implement protections for participants in accordance with CDC guidelines and COVID-19 health mandates.

 

 

 

Nominating Rules:

 

Nominations will take place by mail in accordance with variances to the LIUNA Constitution, which were issued to incorporate Alaska specific geographic hurdles to in-person attendance and COVID-19 health mandates regarding travel and gatherings. (see attached form)

 

 

 

1.            The Nomination Meeting will begin promptly at 12:00 p.m.

 

 

 

2.            Please arrive early to ensure you arrive in time to nominate and/or to be nominated.

 

 

 

4.            Nominations must be made by a member in good standing and must be seconded by another member in good standing either in person or by certified, registered, or express mail to be received by close of business April 30, 2021

 

 

 

5.            Nominees must be members in good standing for two years and working at the calling for one year prior to the nomination meeting.

 

 

 

6.            Nominees must be declared eligible within 72 hours of the nomination meeting.

 

 

 

7.            Full contact information for both Nominator and Nominated must be included in order that either may be contacted to verify qualifications.

 

 

 

8.            Candidates are required to meet with the Judges of the Election immediately after the nomination meeting on May 1, 2021, unless excused and rescheduled per Article VI, to determine whether each candidate possesses all the qualifications set forth in Article V of the Local Union Constitution.

 

 

 

9.            Candidates should bring identification proving their lawful permanent residence under Local Union Constitution Article V, such as your birth certificate, passport, green card or naturalization certificate.

 

 

 

If more people are nominated and accept the nomination for delegate than there are vacancies, the election of any contested office and/or convention delegates will take place by mail ballot.

 

 

 

Only members in good standing as of the date of the Election will be eligible to vote.

Please plan to participate in the nomination process. This important union activity is designed for your input to your representation.
