Each year, the W. Vernie Reed Scholarships are offered through LIUNA in memory of our late General Secretary-Treasurer, who represented the N.W. Region. This year, the selection committee has chosen to award two scholarships to our Local 71 Members/Family.

Lue Her, son of Excel Her, ASD employee (Anchorage Central Region), will be awarded $3,000.00;
& Alyssa Guthrie, Daughter of Alex Guthrie, DOT employee (Juneau South East Region) will be awarded $2,500.00 for the upcoming school year.

Don't forget our other opportunities offered right here from your own Local 71 Dennis J. Moen scholarship fund. We raise money for these efforts year round through charitable gaming donations and our gaming operator & member, Dave Lambert at Emerald Isle Pull Tabs.
