For more than 20 years, the Alaska Journal of Commerce has honored the top professionals in the state who have demonstrated not only excellence in their field but a deep commitment to their community. That tradition continues today with the announcement of the 2020 Top Forty Under 40.

This year we had 145 individuals nominated with more than 900 pages of supporting documentation to consider. Beyond the usual large number who work in Anchorage, more than a quarter of the group represent Fairbanks, Kodiak, Palmer, Sitka, Soldotna and Utqiagvik.

“Alaska has a lot to be proud of,” said Journal of Commerce Managing Editor Andrew Jensen. “Each year it is an encouraging experience to read about so many Alaskans doing their best to make the state a better place. We can’t help but be reminded that the greatest natural resources in Alaska are people like those both represented in and nominated for the 2020 Top Forty Under 40.”

The Top Forty Under 40 selection committee is made up of Anchorage Daily News Advertising Director Kea Cuaresma, Sales Managers Brandi Nelson and Jada Nowling, Peak 2 Peak Events Vice President Sarah Boice, Alaska Journal of Commerce Managing Editor Andrew Jensen and Alaska Executive Search President and CEO Paula Bradison.

Each committee member ranked the nominees on a scale of 1 to 5 with the top 40 scores selected for the 2020 class.
