Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Many of us will take well-deserved time with friends and family this Memorial Day weekend, enjoying a day off marking the transition to summer. But while we have a holiday, tens of thousands of brave men and women in the Armed Services – many of them LIUNA members – will have no respite. Serving far from home and often overseas, they and their families accept daily hardships and dangers in order to protect our democracy and freedom.

Each of us owes a debt of gratitude and solemn reflection to those who serve and have served. As we remember these men and women on Memorial Day, let us also honor their service by continuing to build a stronger LIUNA and country, so that they have opportunities to prosper for themselves and their families when they return.

On behalf of myself and the entire LIUNA General Executive Board, I wish each and every one of you an enjoyable and meaningful Memorial Day.
