Local 71 Members VOTE, and we make a difference in Alaska’s elections!

August 16, 2022, marks the upcoming regular primary election, and special general election for the remainder of the congressional seat vacated with the passing of Congressman Don Young.

Public Employees Local 71 Members who are eligible to vote are proudly registered to vote with a density of over 95% and we remain engaged in the election process. We meet with candidates and ask them hard questions about how they will support our members and mission. We do independent research, and we check the records of those who seek our support.

(ALL Local 71 Members who contribute to the PAC are notified of PAC meetings and get to vote on endorsements. Contact your Business Representative or Office Staff to sign up for the PAC!)

The PAC additionally recommends the following endorsements to the Laborers International Union of North America (LIUNA) who makes endorsements at the federal level:

• For U.S. Senate – Re-Elect Senator Lisa Murkowski. This is a “pick-one” primary election.
• For U.S. House, Special Election (only) to fill the remainder of the term of the seat vacated by the passing of Congressman Don Young - Mary Peltola. This is a ranked-choice special general election. 
• For the Regular Primary Election to U.S. House, a pick-one primary – Tara Sweeney.
